The Catholic church has encouraged the rhetoric to promote anti-paganism and anti-secularism for centuries. One of the first recorded times they got caught was when Martin Luther wanted to translate the Bible from Latin to English so the masses could read it and they were asking for indulgences(paying money to get rid of your sins). During the Diet of Worms, Martin Luther and Galileo were both persecuted for very different crimes. Martin Luther for wanting to break off and form what is now known as Protestant Christians then he turns around and helps the Catholic Church with the persecution of Galileo and the Church of Illuminati also known as the Science of Illumination.
